Why I Started Instant French

When I first moved to Montreal from a small English-speaking town in the Midwest, learning French wasn't easy. I had taken a job transfer, and was looking forward to the legendary Montreal night life. The only problem was I didn't know any French. Well, I did know some French: French-kissing, French dressing, and the words to that song "Alouette."

In Montreal, if you don't know French, it can be a pretty lonely existence. So I set out to learn French as quickly as possible. Between my work and my social life, I only had about an hour a day to learn - so I figured that a study French from home course would be best. I tried a number of different products and techniques - all of which I review on the site. My hope is that you can learn from my experience.

I'm happy to report I've come along way since first moving to Montreal. I can converse with the locals without worrying that I'll look like a fool, and I actually understand television shows now! I'm no pro, but the products on the site really made a difference in speeding up my French learning.
